For the presentation I have  researched ways on how to present my own game pitch, I have found many of the e3 game conference for professional AAA game presentation at e3, I have noticed that they all follow a similar format, which is an introduction on what they are presenting, a trailer or teaser in order to set the mood of the game, explain what new and unique about game, and sometimes gameplay footage of the game, what I took from this is the way they  use artwork and a trailers to set the mood and feel of the game, I think they do this so because if a game looks visually interesting, its the first step to getting an audiences attention for your game.

I have researched different types of trailer formats I wanted to use in my presentation because I wanted to capture the mood and feel through the trailer, I have found 2 kinds of trailer, the first one is from the heroes of the storm game character trailer, these trailer unlike cinematic look like game res art, but is fully rendered as an animation, I like these trailers because of the almost minimalistic style of it and how something I could aim towards achieving, the second trailer are character trailers from smite which tell you the backstory of the new character and also shows you gameplay and there abilities, I like this format because its show and explains the character fully from there story to their game, Ideally I would like to incorporate both of these formats into my own game trailer.

The 3 genres of games I have chosen are first person shooters, mmorpg’s and 2d platformer’s.  I will be discussing and comparing differences in style and gameplay.

First person shooters (fps) are 3d games where the player plays in the perspective of a character, seeing what he/she would see as If it was in real life.

Many fps game (like call of duty or halo) styles usually look realistic in nurture using focusing on subtle, realistic animation especially for objects close up like the gun mechanics.  The gameplay for this genre is very fast pace, twitch reaction gameplay, what usually lacks within these games is a storyline because there main focus is usually the gameplay aspect  these games are aimed more toward teenagers to adults who enjoy fast pace games

Mmorpg’s (massive multiplayer online role playing games) are game where multiplayers all interact within I giant world together, the style of these games usually are in a low res stylized in nature, One of the reason for this may be because the world you interact in is vast and full of content. This uses up a lot of data making hard making hard for current hardware to run these kid of games if the graphics were realistic in nature like and fps games.  The gameplay for these games are usually quite slow where you have to plan your attack and build up your character abilities and equipment, it does not have the same instructiveness as in a fps game but the main aspect for these games is to create your own story and go on adventures as your character.  these games are aimed more toward gamers who enjoy world building and storyline

2d platformers is the oldest style out of the 3, in these games you are a 2d character in a flat world where you have certain obstacle your way, famous games that come under this genre are games like Mario and donkey Kong. These games have much more simple control scheme, because its only in two dimensional,  because of this, its hard to make it seam realistic so most of these games are similar to mmo because there also stylized, by these games can be more like an fps because the gameplay can be more fast twitch  like an fps game. These games are more aimed to a younger generation then the other genres.

All 3 genres have similarities and differences compared to each over, in terms of style, they all have there own unique but mmo and rpg are more similar because there art style is stylized unlike the realistic in nurture fps,

In terms of gameplay fps and 2d are more similar and morph are quite because of the pace and speed of the gameplay.

Although there genres are usually quite distinctive there are some games witch mix the genres together, an example being borderlands where the gameplay is in fps style but has stylised art and storytelling like an mmo.

Unit 12 : game maker

This project was to create a game pitch and present as a presentation

Researched I did was on how game developer presented there game, what I have found is that they use a format where they show artwork and visual aspect of the game first to get the audience interested and then explain the in more detail, lastly showing it in action, I feel that this research is good as a example and template for my own presenting format.

In my presentation I have create multiple visual artifacts that show what my game would look like,  I started with concept art showing my initial fought on the look of the game, then showing more developed pieces of the game, such as assets and characters, during the creating in made the characters in the same workflow that professional game artist to make their game res characters I did this so that my characters would also have that gaming look and feel.

In terms of artwork, what I could of improved was I could of made the character and asset look more stylized in order to give off that game look I wanted my art pieces to have.

In terms of the overall project, I think I focused too much on the art and not enough on the gameplay itself, the main I need to work on is time management. And also practicing to make high quality art work in more sufficiently.

Thing I could changed was planning the game properly in the earlier stages of the project because I was still creating the concept for the game in the late stages of the project, if I had planned the projects properly I may have relieved my time management problem
